While “What Was That” marks Lorde’s first proper solo single since her 2021 album, Solar Power, she kept busy in 2024, releasing a Talking Heads cover and guesting on a remix of Charli XCX’s “Girl, so confusing.”

More recently, she joined Charli XCX on stage during the first weekend of Coachella 2025 to perform their “Girl, so confusing” remix together.
