Harry Styles once sang about running from his emotions on “Sign of the Times,” something that may be fueling his surprisingly elite times at recent long-distance races. On Sunday, he finished the Berlin Marathon in 2:59:13, and under a fake name, to boot.
As first reported by the German newspaper Tagesspiegel, the 31-year-old singer used the pseudonym “Sted Sarandos” to compete among a field of 55,000 runners, finishing 524th in the over-30 age group and 2,241st overall. With an even split of 1:29:08 in the first half and 1:30:06 in the second, Styles ran a well-paced race.
This coveted sub-three-hour time was a personal best for the pop superstar, after he completed the Tokyo Marathon in 3:24:07 this past March. Check out fan-shot footage of Styles running the Berlin Marathon below.
