This 1966 Triumph Bonneville T120R was purchased by comedian and Spikes Car Radio podcast host Spike Feresten in 2003 from a lumberjack in Canada, and it was recommissioned and modified by Sonny Nutter later that year. Power is from a 649cc parallel-twin mated to a four-speed transmission, and it is finished in Alaskan White with Grenadier Red stripes. Features include a black vinyl two-up seat, a single-leading shoe front drum brake, wire-spoke wheels, center and side stands, folding passenger foot pegs, a dual exhaust, and a steel fuel tank. The total sale amount, including the BaT buyer’s fee, will be donated by the auction winner to the Palisades Charter High School Booster Club, a 501(c)(3) organization, in support of the fire recovery efforts of Palisades Charter High School in Pacific Palisades, California. The auction winner will have the option of taking delivery of the motorcycle directly from Spike on the set of Spike’s Car Radio. This T120R is now offered at no reserve by the seller, on Spike’s behalf, with service records and a clean California title in the owner’s name.
The fuel tank was refinished in Alaskan White with Grenadier Red stripes in 2004, and the two-up seat was reupholstered at that time. Features folding passenger foot pegs, black rubber knee grips, and both center and side stands.
The 19″ front and 18″ rear wire-spoke wheels feature chrome-finished rims and are wrapped with Dunlop Gold Seal K70 tires measuring 3.50″ front and 4.00″ rear. Suspension consists of a conventional telescopic fork with black rubber gaiters as well as dual shocks mounted to the swingarm, and the shocks and fork seals were replaced in 2004. Braking is from a single leading-shoe drum at each end.
A chrome handlebar carries a single underslung mirror and fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 150-mph speedometer and a 10k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles, approximately 800 of which have been ridden by Spike. The speedometer was replaced and the tachometer rebuilt in 2004, and the speedometer drive was repaired in 2006.
The 649cc OHV parallel-twin was factory rated at 47 horsepower and is equipped with twin Amal carburetors, a kick starter, and a dual exhaust system with chrome-finished pipes. Maintenance work on the bike has included:
- Rebuilding the oil pump in 2004
- Replacing the kick starter in 2005
- Cleaning and servicing the carburetors in 2019
- Adjusting the valves, tuning the carburetors, and replacing the spark plugs and battery in November 2022
The number TR120RDU33105 stamped on the engine case matches the serial number stamped on the frame, a photo of which can be viewed in the gallery.
Power is transferred to the rear wheel through a right-side-shifted four-speed transmission as well as a drive chain.
The California title is listed as a duplicate.
